Mission Statement

The purpose of the SVO is to bring live, American roots music to the people of Maine in a family oriented, theater environment.

Live music is an art form that has nearly been lost. Local musicians have limited options for where and when they can play their music. Musicians often have to play the role of human jukebox at a local tavern, where original music is often not wanted and the clientele is limited to those 21 and older who like to go out late on a Friday or Saturday night.Also, for those people who like live music, the opportunities to enjoy local live music with their families are extremely limited.

The Sebasticook Valley Opry was created to join these two groups of people together, and to bring back the lost tradition of bringing the family to the local theater to enjoy some live music. It is hopeful that in the future these local shows can be broadcast over the radio so that the people of Maine can enjoy a night at the Opry even if the show is in another town.
